“When you meet the right person . . .,” a groom once said while retelling his love story, “. . . you don’t need to change much, on the other hand the right person brings myriads of colors into your life and adds to it!” Your story is unique as you, with special colors that make your relationship truly unique. I’d love to tell your story elegantly, beautifully, and timelessly, through photographs.
Like all life’s best adventures, photography is something I stumbled upon. Living abroad after college years, I’ve discovered a passion to tell stories amidst the skylines of Istanbul, the Pyramids of Sahara, and the ancient cities in the world including Jerusalem and Petra. Working as a full time writer, I not only wanted to tell stories through words but also through photos. When my writing contract ended in 2010, photography became my new full time venture, and naturally I was drawn to tell the world’s most treasured stories, the love stories.
As in the age of Romanticism, I’ve learned my craft from other established artists and worked with some of the finest photographers to cultivate my skills. I’m particularly drawn to beautiful light and use both the outdoors and indoors to find the best light that flatters my subjects. Natural light is my primary source of light, especially for outdoor nature weddings, but I equally like to include indoor lighting techniques for the grandeur ballroom weddings dimly lit by chandeliers.
My style is a mixture of artistic directing, story telling, capturing moments as they unfold, and intertwining your story to create something unique to your day. I believe directing is helpful to you and your fiancé, so you feel like models at my shoots, and as an artist, I believe in taking the extra time to find most beautiful light and composing photographs. During the ceremony and reception, I take on journalistic approach, capturing the day as it unfolds, only stopping you for a short kiss when you walk down the aisle as a married couple, so you have a gorgeous photograph of you exiting your ceremony.
I’m Yuliya, of European descent and with my heart left in San Francisco. Besides being a wedding photographer, I’m an entrepreneur, an avid coffee shop goer and a minimalist. “Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life…” is a quote by Mark Twain displayed on my desk. I love early mornings, wardrobe styling, beautiful light and the busy street corners of New York.
